Basic Cinematography Workshop for Female Filmmakers

Thuma Amyin: Basic Cinematography Workshop for Female Filmmakers is to provide basic camera training and introduce cinematography to young prospective female filmmakers in Myanmar. With the completion of the workshop, the participants will receive the necessary skills to begin their careers in cinematography. Female cinematographers have always been massively under-represented in the film industry across the world. Despite an increasing number of women winning cinematography awards around the globe, there are many glass ceilings yet to be smashed to reach anywhere near gender parity. This reality is even more apparent in the Myanmar context where women cinematographers are nearly nonexistent in the mainstream cinema.
